Blackhole

Written by Balaji, Golden Ears Observatory

You bend light every day and night
And devour stars, big or small, with a ravenous appetite

You send ripples when you dance with your friends
And break every rule, every idea and every fence

You’re elusive and like to hide
In the centre of galaxies, is your home where you reside

In the kingdom of space and time
You are a fearless ruler with no mercy, no dime

You destroy but also make things
Like new stars and planets with rings

Einstein, Hawking and a few others pretend to know you more

But you keep to yourself and reveal no key, no door

Astronomers give you funny names like Sgr B
You probably roll your eyes and wonder why me

You come in all sizes, big and small
Event horizon is your grand entrance where you welcome all

You like to hide the secrets of our present, past and future
Until the end of time, infinity and forever

I hope our paths never cross
For this poem will be a paradox
